Promethean is a maker of interactive whiteboards and remote response systems.

Tabula Digita is a startup educational game company that creates first-person shooter math games based on James Gee's principles of educational technology. The games have "all of the action adventure fun associated with mainstream games while simultaneously providing an efficient learning environment to better prepare students for high stakes exams."

Aleks Learning

Aleks Learning is a developer of adaptive mathematics instruction and assessment software. From the website: "ALEKS is a web-based, artificially intelligent assessment and learning system. ALEKS uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine exactly what a student knows and doesn't know in a course. ALEKS then instructs the student on the topics she is most ready to learn. As a student works through a course, ALEKS periodically reassesses the student to ensure that topics learned are also retained."

AlphaSmart

AlphaSmart, now a subsidiary of Renaissance Learning, makes portable word processor/laptop devices which are targeted to the education market.

MIND Research Institute

This is a California research-based system developed by a university to teach math using simple games with a penguin.

Tom Snyder Productions, now a subsidiary of Scholastic, was founded in 1980 and has developed a range of educational software products.
