Academic authority

Educators tend to experience difficulty accepting the necessity of the operation of authority in a public sphere. But StudyPlace contributors need not be anarchists. In thinking of the functionality of authority in a digital commons, might it be helpful to think of the public use of reason - a concept that disperses authority across the StudyPlace network while maintaining its significance - instead of decrying authority in any and all conceptual forms?
